About

Roots Incorporated SWAN 2022.jpg

Roots Incorporated was founded by Stephanie Oyler and Amanda Woolston in 2019. Months of planning and dreaming ensued as the pair quietly brainstormed between the two of them seeking to answer one fundamental question.

How can we combine our powers as social workers and adopted people to make post-adoption support what it needs to be - especially for today's adopted youth?

Since its inception, Roots has provided support groups, workshops, internships, and free education. It gained a physical location in 2022 and isn't slowing down any time soon.

Stephanie has over 6 years of social services experience and more than 4 years experience as a child, adult, and family therapist. She serves on the board of multiple adoption-related advocacy and education organizations. For the past several years, she has served the adoption and foster care community for over a decade through publishing, speaking engagements, training, community organizing, policy advocacy, and direct clinical practice in post-adoption support. She is the co-founder of Roots Incorporated and co-owner of Therapy Center for Transformative Growth.

Stephanie was involuntarily surrendered into foster care and transracially adopted as a toddler. She is a second-generation former foster youth as both of her first parents were foster alumni. She reunited with her first family in her 20's and served as a passionate advocate and caregiver to each of her first parents before their passing.
